Dominelli School of Music - About the Community

About the Community

We are a learning community that fosters a lifelong love of music.

Dominelli Music opened in 2012, a few months after Brandy & Sandro Dominelli had their first daughter.  Sandro had been (and currently still works as) a professional drummer, with a Juno Award nomination and many other accolades under his belt, as well as a teaching career at MacEwan University in the Music Department.  Brandy had been working at the Edmonton International Jazz Festival as the Artist Liaison as well as running her own music industry support organization, writing grants, and doing publicity and marketing for local musicians.  They decided to open a music school to work closer to home, and share their view for a beautiful community centre where music creation could be a platform for local families to build self-esteem, a passion for the arts, and an overall sense of well being in this busy world of ours.

Currently, Dominelli Music has over 850 enrollments between two locations in North Edmonton and St. Albert.  We have shared music with over 4,000 families in our community, and have taken students all the way from beginner to now attending University in the Bachelor for Music program.  Our students have received Edmonton Music Award nominations, performed at over 22 local music venues, released over 30 original songs on iTunes and Spotify, and many more incredible feats.  All supported by our highly skilled and well established team of music educators and support staff.

In 2019, we will be opening our first Music and Wellness Centre in North Edmonton, and will be offering music inclusion programs for students with special needs, yoga and meditation classes, musical childminding, and more creative programming to support our thriving community of music.

We look forward to you being a part of this movement, and sharing our love of music and community with you.
